Well I’ve got to tell you I wasn’t fussed. In fact being the boring old cow that I am, I’ve got to admit I was a teeny bit appalled by the whole idea: a wedding two days after Christmas, in a hotel a million miles away from here??? Ye Gods, I don’t think so!!
But here within, dear Readers is a lesson for us all: sometimes we have got to step outside the old routines, let down our frizzy hair, forget real life and abandon ourselves to a good old fashioned knees up in the bosom of our collective (and slightly loopy) family…
It was wonderful. We booked into the hotel on Boxing day, had a lovely meal, then slept in the silent bliss that is all hotel rooms. The next morning we dressed in our finery to watch my gorgeous cousin Rebecca (A white Princess, according to Finley) marry her lovely Dale, before enjoying a reception puncuated only by having to do mad dashes around the room, chasing Finley, who was in turn chasing a two year old bridesmaid, because for a reason I cannot begin to understand, he had got it into his head that she was Baby Jesus…
My Dad got outrageously drunk (consider yourself named and shamed), Rebecca’s Mum, Barbie did a boogie by the bar that I will simply never forget, Rebecca has never looked more beautiful, and in short, the whole damned affair was nothing short of wonderful…
Here’s to a wedding in a far flung hotel every year…
Well, how wonderful! I think that sounds delightful, memorable, and quite chic. What an adorable pair, your son and nephew! Couldn't I just scoop them up for a big hug? Nope.. They are too grown up for words in those suits! Have a fabulous New Year's planned, too? You woman about town, you!
Fin & Gabe are just sooo gorgeous…look like little angels, but they have that cheeky glint in their eyes 😉
