Bentlily

Are you subscribing to Bentlily’s daily poem?  Oh please do… for me Samantha Reynolds poetry is a moments breath in a busy day. A moments breath describing what it is today to be a woman, and a mother and so much more. Take yesterdays gorgeous effort, The Little Robot Inside Me- when I read it I had one of those little gasps of recognition. Of yes and me too and how did you know?

When my husband is away
and my baby is asleep
the little robot inside me

that just takes care of things

sputters and crumples
and lays on its side
unresponsive.

I thought that with the extra time
I would pamper myself
a long bath
paint my toes
read that novel everyone says is so good

but instead I allow a flat daze
to envelop me

I eat handfuls of cereal
I watch youtube
I stay up late
for no reason

it is strangely peaceful
this quiet place of no harm
but no hint
of nurture.

Go  read the rest of Samantha’s wonderful poetry at Bentlily and remember how good it feels to know that other people feel like you do: for this is indeed the inspirational art of noticing your life…

Brilliant! She says it all, doesn't she? Wish I had this when my kiddos were little and life seemed completely overwhelming!

Whoa… sad to say, this is just what I'm like. Paul is gone on a business trip, and rather than get more done, it's just been a web surfing extravaganza!
But that's not totally a bad thing. After all, I did find this poem!
