Did you ever have the feeling that your life is too loud?
That peace flew out the window when you weren’t looking?
Take my horrible green landing wallpaper away. Move half the things on my kitchen counter. Insist that the Tv is turned off for at least a good part of the day. Try to cure my internet addiction. Remove Finley’s voicebox. Pull out the phones. Hide away all my florals and replace them with the bliss of starched white monogrammed linen. Let me learn to sit in silence. All by myself. Without the need for constant gratification. Eat simply. Turn down the voices in my head. Take up the patterened carpet in the bathroom. Stop buying so many magazines. Dull the want….
Hush now. Please?
Oh for a life created in the mind’s eye of Charlotte Casadejus.
Oh how I can relate to this. You put it with such excellent articulation…as always.
I know why you want this, It would be so nice could you imagine no phone, nothing but serene gorgeousness….mmmmmm heaven, but I think you are like me…. you'd only like it for a little while….. However I love to live in madness, I love the clutter around me – I like the piles of books and abandoned teacups that I put my Jewellery in. The half knitted things that sit in a basket next to the sofa and the scraps of material that sit next to my sewing machine permanently set up on my dining room table. I like the mess, I like the colour, I like that no-one else I know has a house like it and that when my friends pop in, they feel comfy and take their shoes off and curl up on the sofa…. So go on… admit it…. you'd miss the lovely florals and friendly chintz… oh and having to apologise to Mrs Bum Bum!

Well said.
Oh my gosh, Alison you have read my mind! I also buy too many magazines and my fairly recent obsession with pattern and trinkets means I've gone a bit berserk. I need to start again with a blank canvass. I need to sit and contemplate and simplfy my life. It all too hectic. I've been reading a great book called 'Timeless Simplicity'. I only wish I could find the time to organise my ideal simplified life…

I, too, can completely understand this… I think it's an epidemic… and your words make it so much more acute… *sigh*
