Good morning Vintage Housekeepers, welcome to another giddy ride around the internet, as seen through a Vintage Housekeeping single Mommy-ing, blogging for a living and dancing for fun, kinda woman’s eyes!
It’s been a funny old week, mostly I suspect, because it’s a funny old life, and I’m still getting to grips with WordPress, still way behind on where I wanted to be and still downright bloomin thrilled that so many of you have signed up to the newsletter,(this month with ten new teeny tiny puttery treats!) and bought the Vintage Housekeepers Planner and have joined the ranks of all of us Housekeepers now tasting the satisfaction that comes with a life blessed by ritual and routine, (though obviously still hampered by all manner of the daft obstacles life throws at us, because I may be Queen of all things Domestic around here, but even I can’t work miracles!)
Just before we climb aboard the Carousel, can I make a little bloggers plea? Though almost everything went smoothly in the move from Blogger to WordPress, my RSS feed went a little bonkers and I lost a lot of you along the way, so can I ask anybody who doesn’t seem to be up to date with happenings on Brocante to re-subscribe to the feed today and if that still fails you to follow me on Twitter (@brocantehome) or Facebook (Facebook.com/Brocantehome). Thank you Sweetie Pies.
And now that all the dull stuff is out of the way, shall we get on with the pretty? And the fun? And the beautiful? And the tasty. And the downright lovely? Ok, I’m on it…

* First up this morning, The Baseball’s, a German group, with more than a touch of the Elvis about them, currently to be found all over the internet re-inventing modern pop songs with a vintage swing, from Katy Perry’s “Hot n Cold”, to The Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah and The Scissor Sisters “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” . All that and a man who was clearly never even in spitting distance of the ugly stick, singing with his shirt collar undone and his tie loose! What more does a Vintage Loving girl need?? Download the whole album on itunes and make it your housekeeping music of choice.
* Next, Saudade. “A Portugese and Galiacan word for a feeling of nostalgic longing for something or someone that one was fond of and which has been lost. It often carries a fatalist tone and repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never really return. It was once described as the love that remains.” Pretending I don’t feel it daily. For objects and times and people. For a single china plate I loved and smashed to smithereens when a spider spooked me. For who I was when I ran my interiors shop and still believed that there was a pot of gold on the other side of the rainbow. For the other baby I probably won’t have now. For other things too tender to touch.
* Feeling enchanted by Dear Mr Bigelow and lowering the tone by eating Heinz Beans and Sausages because conveniance food becomes me. Surprised to find a film called The SnakePit in my Lovefilm envelope because I don’t remember ordering it, but will settle down to submerge myself in the cinematic ordeal of a 1948 housewife who finds herself locked up on a pyschiatric ward with no memory of how she got there, mostly because IMDB describe it as “a heart-stirring dramatic thunderbolt” and who’d be without one of those on the kind of Thursday afternoon when the house has been puttered into quiet loveliness and all seems well with the world?
* Coveting chocolate from the Maison Bouche collection. Because I am hormonal and only aesthetic pleasure will truly satisfy my internal melancholic rage. And yes it is possible to be both melancholic and raging at the same time. Particularly when you have absolutely NOTHING to pin such dubious emotions on other than the godforsaken ritual that is the monthly cycle. Damn it. Anyway, did you ever see the like? Divine vintage illustration wrapped over violet foil covering chocolate in all manner of beguilling flavours like Geranium Bourbon andRose et Feuilles de Menthe Cristallisées. Beautiful. Somebody send me a truckload!
* And finally because I missed it when it was aired a couple of years ago and you might have done too, I hereby suggest you pour yourself a pretty little cup full of Chai, and get comfortable to enjoy half an hour watching Sarah Ban Breathnach talking to Oprah Winfrey about gratitude…
Have a fabulous week Housekeepers!
Looking forward to quiet time tomorrow when I can click on all of these links and wallow

Mmmm…..I adore this new feature. The Carousel is a major highlight of the week for me. Am totally smitten with The Baseballs now.
