Queens Speech.

Queenmother

Dear Daddies (I know you are out there)…

Mother’s Day will be upon us before you know it and thus I have taken it upon myself to serve you with a little reminder.
While it is a given that we expect breakfast in bed,  a beautiful (read  hyacinths for me) bouquet, perfume, new shoes and a promise to do the dishes for the rest of your life, we also expect a teeny tiny whimsical little token of your appreciation to be bought by you, charmingly wrapped and offered to us by our dear little darlings as if they had raided their piggy banks and taken themselves on a little shopping jaunt while you no doubt  stayed in and watched the football…

What to buy? Something old. Something that you know will speak to our hearts, something that will  make us laugh without offending our deep rooted sense of what is aesthetically pleasing…

And if all else fails, send for this cute little pin to adorn one of our rather fabulously shabby little vintage bags and we will be nice to you till, ooh, at least dinnertime? (Though trust me if you can stretch to one of those gorgeous little Rabbit ones we will love you always. And at a stretch, if funds are really tight, we will be happy with this little five dollar charmer.. )

Why Darling, you are welcome.

Lots of love,

The Queen Mother.

Huh, speak for yourself 🙂 After all I've been through this year (why did no one tell me that mothering was so damn HARD?) I don't think anything less than a diamond tiara will be sufficient…
