Supermarket Meditation.

Oh Fiddlesticks. How dull it is to have to tell you that the outlook isn’t bright today.
Reaching the end of my tether yesterday  I returned to the doctor  to be informed with a  sorry shake of his silly head  that my infection has reached a point where  there  is likely  to be permanent damage.
Oh yes. Long term deafness. Fabulous.

So he has prescribed me a new set of super strong antibiotics that make me sick and I’ve got to tell you that I’m thoroughly miserable…
On the brighter side I floated around the supermarket yesterday in a fuzzy haze and it was kind of wonderful.
So that is my recommendation for the week: shove cotton wool in your ears before you go shopping and I guarantee you won’t feel half as demented by the chaos of the supermarket…

  5. So sorry to hear this! I can empathize as I, too, permanently lost hearing in one ear after a nasty infection. There are some blessings though – I can roll over on my good ear, and the world goes peaceful. Keep a stiff upper lip, things will get better. I'm lifting you up in prayers. 🙂

    I have no idea how your health care is over there but if you were here, I would be saying get yourself to the best ENT doc you could find – ASAP, get a 2nd, a 3rd opinion, and do NOT accept that your are going to lose your hearing without a fight! As a nurse, I know there are things that can be done…drains, tubes, big-gun drugs, irrigation, etc. I am livid you could reach this point without intervention! Sorry if I am over stating without all the facts…just care about you and hate to see you suffer needlessly. I am praying hard for you. You take the best care of you that you can and please keep us posted. ((HUGS))

    Something similar happened to me a couple springs ago. I went thru a grieving process. I've learned to compensate for my loss but it takes time to get your bearings once more. Concentrate on the infection first and allow time to work as much healing as it can.

    Well, that won't do at all Alison. I think you need a second opinion too. Get that wonderful man of yours to take you wherever you need to go to get yourself some specialist medical advice. And plenty of rest and doing as little as possible!

    Very strange. Must be a new infection going around. I had the very same thing in my left ear. It took two and a half weeks and two different antibiotics to regain my hearing. And a good decongestant. One of my co-workers now has the very same thing, as well.
    Un-advice: this doesn't sound like the kind of doctor you would want for your family and yourself….
