Throwback to the days when the house was tidy.
This though is what I want you to know today: on the days my house is immaculate, I am usually sad - trying my hardest to maintain control of a life that feels as though it is about to get away from me.
When I am content, I let life spill on to the table, on to the counters and the floor. Life spells out her joy because she has nothing to prove, doesn't have to convince anybody that everything is alright... can be what a house is supposed to be, a place to nurture our messiest, happiest, most daring dreams.

After a mad and silly lifetime of compromising myself and tolerating other people's nonsense or situations that I found uncomfortable, I have come to realise that it is only when we get truly, madly and deeply brave that we take another step towards our bestest, loveliest, most precious selves.
Maybe today is the day to get brave, because life is scarily short and none of us should die having sacrificed joy for the sake of not rocking the boat...

I did myself a damage with an eyeliner, I dilly-dallied around London, went on dates with a very tall man, hunted hither and thither for my creative brain (and decided Covid must have stole it) and I let the house run amok while I tried to work out why the washing machine hates me…
And then one day I woke up and it struck me that if I carried on managing all the things and wearing a blindfold to all that struck me as complex or dull or scary or exhausting, then the roof might just fall in and put a stop to my hedonistic gallop! By happy serendipity I am in London until Sunday for the Coronation, a gorgeous change of pace after a terrible few weeks…
The capital is, as always, inspirational, lively and eccentric and I have spent a sunny today wandering around Knightsbridge, and revelling in all the gorgeous window displays - case in point, this glorious ode to the Coronation at Neill Strain Floral Couture… sometimes life kisses us with little bits of lovely doesn’t it?
