Jet Set Mommy Goes To Dallas!

So I have returned home safe from Dallas, and have just one word to say&

Anthropologie!!!

Am I the only person in the world who doesn’t know about this divine store?? I thought I was going to cry when I walked in (not least because I knew my credit card was about to get a darn good battering..!). I felt like everything in the entire store had been made especially for me,  from the most fabulous quirky shoes to luxurious satin, chiffon and cashmere clothing and from beautiful eclectic vintage glass and crockery to a wonderful selection of unusual books on anything from throwing a dinner party (A dinner party Anthropologie style darlings I can only aspire to it!) to utterly charming children’s stories.

And so I spent a wonderfully indulgent hour wandering around and slowly filling up my basket. But there was just one thing that stopped it being the ultimate shopping experience for me (apart from the fact that I was limited to what I bought given that I had to travel back to the UK with an already overloaded suitcase& ) and that was that Alison wasn’ t there to share it with me. She would love it and had she been with me I know it would have been the perfect day for me, browsing excitedly with my sister, my best friend.

This isn’t the first time I have felt like this. I am lucky enough to travel to some wonderful places with my job, but so often on my trips I think, Oh Alison would love it here! And I hope one day we can go together to all these places.

One of my purchases on the day was a tiny little book called I Like You by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. The blurb on the back read

Here is the book that Romeo would have given Juliet; Charlie Brown would have given to Snoopy; and you can give to some very special friend. .

So Alison I am giving it to you, and devote one page in particular to me and you, silly sisters.

You know how to be silly

That’s why I like you

Boy, are you silly

I never met anyone sillier than me

Til I met you

I like you because

You know when it’s time to stop being silly

Maybe day after tomorrow

Maybe never

Oops too late.

It’ s quarter past silly.

Oh Helen! (and Alison) you simply MUST order their catalog!!! It is one of my favorite pieces of mail! I save them all. My absolutely favorite was the "Alice in Wonderland" themed issue. I agree, I could absolutely cry when I look at the clothes, which are BEYOND reach in my budget!!! But, massive amounts of free inspiration. I have one of the stores only an hour away. How many times have I been? ONCE!! Just sad…

I don't know about that store. And I live in DFW. Guess I better check it out.
