Life-Long Learning for Homemakers

My female need to know has never been quite so fiery. I am so very hungry for information: from where Finley is RIGHT NOW (still asleep having now lost his voice completely) to what drinking nettle tea will do for my well-being and why those who sell deep-sheets don’t make them quite deep enough to truly fit my mattress.
I spend many an hour following my own (oft slightly crazy) lines of inquiry around the internet, consulting Doctor Google about everything from the headache above my eye to whether all fourteen year old boys live in the bathroom, and of course, harassing Ste in an effort to understand the bewildering psyche of a man. Because this let it be known, is my role in life: to harass people until I have wheedled my way into every corner of their mind – something that serves me not at all and only truly serves to annoy those who want to smack me and my nosy mouth into next week…
My head is full of Whys and Whats and Hows. With no direction. Because it is all tit-bits of fluff, answering immediate questions but never taking me further down the path of a lovelier life. So I have decided to give my inquiring mind more direction. A purpose if you will. A framework from which my brain will not be allowed to wander into rabbit holes stuffed full of answers as to why Khloe Kardashian is repeatedly drawn to terrible men and whether (my really rather good) charcoal toothpaste is turning my insides black.
I am committing here and now to a program of life-long learning in how to live a life less ordinary. You see we modern women are truly blessed. We do not have to schlep to night-school to learn anything from how to meditate to how to shop without waste and willpower. We can teach ourselves to dance in our own living room, learn how to live a more thankful lifebecome a herbalist, or even learn how to to stand on our head when there isn’t a room full of lithe yogis watching and ready to snigger…

We are Blessed…

We are blessed by the internet, by incredibly easy access to real experts willing to share their know-how and we are blessed by the very fact that we as Brocanteers are already on the path towards a life less ordinary, and remain committed to cultivating our most authentic selves…
So won’t you join me in creating for yourself a program of learning? A program that furthers your domestic capabilities and guides you towards the kind of knowing that makes life less ordinary? You see I rather suspect, that when we become deliberate about what we are filling our minds with, instead of always filling it with the kind of trivia flooding Facebook daily, we both grow as women and hush the noise in our heads because we satisfy our infinite thirst for knowledge with real purpose.
I am beginning then by choosing one course per month. Though some of the courses I am considering for myself will take a lot less time, I don’t want to overwhelm myself with an influx of information I cannot keep up with. I simply want to create for myself a timetable for learning some of the things that have long interested me beyond all that I am committed to learning for my business.

Do It For Yourself…

For isn’t that the thing: we so very often learn what we need to for work, we teach ourselves to do the complicated new way they seem to teach maths these days so we can help at homework time, gain encyclopedic knowledge of what ails our children and hunt out complicated recipes for meals our partners declare were the best thing they have ever eaten (in someone else’s house), but we do not extend our own learning in the things that would help us expand our own minds, stretch our bodies or feed our souls because we simply do not prioritize our own growth…
There is so much I want to do. To know. To be. And there is so much opportunity to do it, learn it or become it. My journey starts with Gabrielle Bernstein’s FREE short course Get Out Of Your Own Way and Create The Life You Want this evening. Where will yours start?
P.S: CreativeBug is great  for all those interested in short courses in all of the domestic arts from cooking to crafting and everything in-between. Use this link to get 1 Months access to 1000+ classes for just $1.00.
Oooh and if you want to re-invent your routines and rituals enough to create time for your very own program of learning, then my email course “Create A Housekeeping Routine” is the perfect place to start…
