Happy Friday, Beautiful People... today I bring you my latest waffle... a new Housekeeper's Diary on the blog, describing my love of Greek Yoghurt and general bewilderment in people.
A poem that made my little heart glad as a year has gone by since my world tipped itself on its head, and I am happier than ever, though spend far too many hours stroking the coffee table with @Method_uk Almond Polish ( That's weird right? Normal human beings do not STROKE their furniture!) and feeling oh so very blessed with friendships old and new.
Life might be all manner of hard here at Chez Brocante right now, but it is also lovely and there is always, always something to celebrate...

I am probably the worst blogger in the history of bloggers, but once in a while I get my act together and put together a little list of all the things making life lovely. Today was one of those days and my latest Substack JOY LIST has just been posted... in which my sister went viral after suffering a terrible ordeal at the hands of @hiltonhotels. Giles and Mary make me laugh in their latest book and I share what it is to tell your saddest secrets and be held up by a community your truly treasure.

Throwback to the days when the house was tidy.
This though is what I want you to know today: on the days my house is immaculate, I am usually sad - trying my hardest to maintain control of a life that feels as though it is about to get away from me.
When I am content, I let life spill on to the table, on to the counters and the floor. Life spells out her joy because she has nothing to prove, doesn't have to convince anybody that everything is alright... can be what a house is supposed to be, a place to nurture our messiest, happiest, most daring dreams.

After a mad and silly lifetime of compromising myself and tolerating other people's nonsense or situations that I found uncomfortable, I have come to realise that it is only when we get truly, madly and deeply brave that we take another step towards our bestest, loveliest, most precious selves.
Maybe today is the day to get brave, because life is scarily short and none of us should die having sacrificed joy for the sake of not rocking the boat...

I did myself a damage with an eyeliner, I dilly-dallied around London, went on dates with a very tall man, hunted hither and thither for my creative brain (and decided Covid must have stole it) and I let the house run amok while I tried to work out why the washing machine hates me…
And then one day I woke up and it struck me that if I carried on managing all the things and wearing a blindfold to all that struck me as complex or dull or scary or exhausting, then the roof might just fall in and put a stop to my hedonistic gallop! And so I declared a Re-set day to face the truth I am avoiding and phone up those I would rather not deal with and poke the washing machine with a big stick and tell the tall one some things are just not meant to be… all this to say there is a new blog post on Brocantehome today, so If you too feel like life is about to go spinning off into outer space then do yourself a favour, take a deep breath, face your fears and re-set… #reset #mindsetreset #allthethings #midlifeblogger #midlifewomen #50 #fiftyandfabulous #tired #exhausted #lifestyle #lifestyleblogger #startagain
