I read too much. I suspect it is getting in the way of having a life, or maybe, maybe, maybe, books are life…
Are they? Please tell me they are because I’ll give up eating before I’ll give up reading, and this is a woman with the kind of child bearing hips only a deep attachment to chocolate can create…
The thing is this, I read so fast I sometimes wonder whether I’m taking it all in. It has even been known for me to spend a glorious afternoon choosing a new little handheld world, take it home, get through the first chapter and find to my chagrin that not only have I read it before, but somewhere deep inside the words are written, just waiting to be called upon from the furthest little nooks of my mind.
On my bedside today sits "I, Too, Have Lived In Arcadia", " The HouseKeeping Book of Susanna Whatman", "A Room With A View", "Toxic Children", "The Ivy Chronicles" and "The Rules" (Only joking!!), all waiting to be consumed after the lighthearted ordeal that is "Are Men Necessary?" (apparently so) is finally over. I will read them, I will momentarily become them, and then I will deliver them to the Oxfam book shop and no doubt forget all about them, so hungry am I for more, for words that talk to me, for the book that will become my bible and writing that makes my heart sing…
But wouldn’t it be nice to have a personal history of all the books that have created me? Wouldn’t it be kind of scrumptious to have a place to scrawl inspiring quotes and words that catch you in your throat? A book about my books…?
And so I am on a mission to find a beautiful journal in which to chart my literary journey. A pretty book with thick, creamy pages and a ribbon to mark my place. A book I’ll be happy to show off on my bedside and content to spend a few minutes recording tiny moments of inspiration into…

One of the things I have become most aware of recently is how very willing I have been to exist in uncomfortable spaces, merely in order to maintain the status quo. To not upset the apple cart, nor to seem more erratic,…

There is no such thing as reading too much. And, I, too, have a book journal, a suede notebook someone bought me as a present. I record the title, author, date started and date finished and a few lines on what I thought about the book. It's good to look back on, especially if I re-read a book, which I do sometimes. Readers of the world, unite!
I hear ya! I am an avid reader! I cannot be without books at bedtime! and my tastes range from classic literature(I too adore aroom with a view)to Biographies(John Betjamin at present) to self help,Marian Keyes latest(its breaking my heart, but funny)cookery, crafting….Oh! so many books, so little time!
No, you never can read too much! In fact, there's simply not enough time to read everything one wants! I keep a book of all the books I read, but I write comments about them and it's all really pompous and dull. Your idea is so much lovelier and more meaningful.
I work in a wonderful library, the experience is sometimes akin to an illicit affair – I'm so busy it is forbidden to actually read the books, I have to resort to stolen glances as I'm helping others find their requests! I mustn't complain too much though, it's one of the few jobs where it's fun to take the "work" home with you! The book journal is a great idea, try not to lose it amongst your other purchases!
Oh! Parallel thoughts again! My constant wail is 'ohhh, I have run out of pages!' at the end of a book, and just now I was thinking my March project will be to find a scrumptious notebook to keep a record of my reading in…hurrah for books, scrumptious notebooks, ribbons and friends! I also want to design a book plate to make the special ones truly my own!
Since we moved last fall, the children are in school all day and I haven't any friends to run around with so I have been reading books like there's no tomorrow! Even when I am doing house work or driving, I usually have a book on tape playing. I feel that this time to read is a great blessing! Plus, the library people LOVE me! They say I alone have doubled their numbers since I've been here! LOL God bless! Terri
I sadly don't have much time for reading these days, so when I AM able to read, I soak it all in like a dry sponge. It is near impossible to tear me away from a book once I do manage to get one in my hands for more than 15 minutes!

That's a great idea. You might try to get something handbound, and then you'd know it came from somebody who loves books as much as you do.
What a fabulous idea!
I, too, read too fast, and lately have been making myself read slower…Making it last…
Oh, and Room With a View is wonderful…)
I also love books, but to give up food for them???? No….
Books are on the 2nd place for me.
I work in a wonderful library, the experience is sometimes akin to an illicit affair – I'm so busy it is forbidden to actually read the books, I have to resort to stolen glances as I'm helping others find their requests! I think you just invented the edible book…

Haha, you are really funny. Maybe you should think about writing a book yourself ? A comdey perhaps? :)Enjoy reading your blog, INSPIRING!

I use a Moleskine to record the books I've read. I decorated the cover and carry the little notebook in my purse.
You can never read too much! Book journal is a great idea. I have got much inspiration from your blog, it is beautiful!
