The Champ!
I had the loveliest time last night. I had a bath, pampered myself silly and then got into bed for a good cry. Nothing in the world makes me feel better than crying my little heart out…
The very first video my family ever hired was The Champ. I was eight years old and I thought I was going to die when poor old Jon Voight popped his clogs. It was and I think still is, the saddest thing I have ever seen on T.V. Our Helen still laughs at the thought of me smacking the television in an effort to bring that little boy’s Daddy back to life…
Channel four last night showed the Top 100 Tearjerkers and while The Champ didn’t quite make it to No.1 (though it should have done!), they did show the dying scene and that hot on the heels of the opera scene from Philadelphia, the electric chair sequence from The Green Mile and the Oscar scene from A Star is Born, nearly finished me off. It was great!
I feel fabulous today. So it is official…
Crying is good for the soul.
I am always the first to cry at sad parts in movies. I love it! It feels very cathartic.
I just loved this movie.. kind of nostalgic, and somewhat sad.
