Rep. these these 2 rows twice. 7th row.—K. 7, cast off 4, k. 3, rib to end. 8th row.— Rib to last 10 sts., p. 3, cast on 4, p. 7. Continue until work measures 4 ins. from beg., making another buttonhole 2£ ins. from last one. Now work in st.st. across all sts. but inc. 1 st. in 4th st. in from end (side edge) of 9th and every following 8th row until there are 110 (114) sts., making further buttonholes 2£ ins. apart at front edge. Neck Shaping. 1st row.—K. 14 sts. and slip these on to a. safety-pin, k. to end. Now cast off 3 sts. at beg. of next 3 alternate rows, then dec. 1 st. at neck edge of every row until 45 (50) sts. remain. Continue until work measures 20 ins., ending k.
Shoulder Shaping.—Cast off 9 (10) sts. at beg. of next and following 4 alternate rows.
LEFT FRONT.—Cast on 95 (99) sts. 1st row.—P. 1, (k. 1, p. 1) to last 14 sts., k. 14. 2nd row.—P. 14, k. 1, (p. 1, k. 1) to end. Complete as ‘for right front, reversing shapings and omitting buttonholes.
NECKBAND. —Join shoulders. Vith right side of work facing, join wool to right front and k. the 14 sts. from pin, pick up and k. 161 sts. round neck, then k. the 14 sts. from pin on left front. 1st row.—P. 14, (k. 1, p. 1) to last 15 sts., k. 1, p. 14. 2nd row.—K. 14, (p. 1, k. 1) to last 15 sts., p. 1, k. 1.4. Rep. these 2 rows 6 times. Cast off.
SLEEVES.-^Cast on 100 (106) sts. and work 3 ins. in k. 1, p. 1 rib. Change to st.st. and inc. 1 st. in 4th st. in from each end of 13th and every following 6th row until there are 150 (156) sts. Continue straight until sleeve measures 17 ins. Shape top as for jumper sleeve.
MAKING UP.—Press work on wrong side with a warm iron over a damp cloth. Juniper.—Set in sleeves. Join side and sleeve seams. Hem back opening extensions. Sew in zip-fastener. Cardigan.—Set in sleeves, then join side and sleeve seams. Face fronts with ribbon. Slit ribbon behind buttonholes and oversew knitting and ribbon together. Sew on buttons. Press seams.
EMBROIDERY.—Use Pearsall’s Filoselle silk: 1 skein each, mauve and yellow and 3 shades each, pink and green. Follow the charts given for motifs, using 3 strands in needle and working 1 cross stitch for each square in chart over 1 knitted stitch. Repeat motifs reversing them as in original or as required. Press the embroidery lightly on wrong side.

Thanks so much for this vintage pattern in such fine gauge. I'm glad you are feeling much better and don't worry, chicken pox are not that bad with little kids. My kids had it last year. Can't say the same for myself though when I caught it from them 🙂
