The Housekeeper's Digest

A Muchier May

I sometimes think that it takes me until May to really get into the year and that when I do my urge to get further along the journey to my own life less ordinary suddenly feels all the more urgent: as if there is no more time to waste on the humdrum and that all my efforts must be thrown at making life feel much muchier and the garden abundant with pretties…
And so my Darlings allow me to welcome you to the second edition of The BrocanteHome Digest – a lovely little round -up of everything we need to make life feel lovelier (and muchier) this May…
Shall we get started?

RANDOM BITS OF LOVELINESS…

* First up, a quick note to tell you that if you have never tried the Salon, you can now try it out for just $5.00 for your first month! Next up, a bossy, little instruction to hop straight over and follow my gorgeous friend, Kerri’s Instagram page because each and every post is a beautiful reminder that we women are gentle warriors and that the path to healing takes time. Next, I loved Sarah Wilson’s rant about her own association with consumerism after her appearance in Stellar magazine here (actually I love Sarah Wilson full stop), and I SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT to see I Got Life, a french film (and not only because I am now so deaf that subtitles fill me with glee).
I was rather thrilled by this Pinterest page full of dress forms (I now think that Pinterest boards are the modern day equivalent of the kind of collections we would once hunt for, hoard and display…) and having always described us Brocanteers as “Housekeepers” I was rather intrigued by this post about why Shannon from Homemade Lovely would rather be called a homemaker (cue post about my own stance coming to BrocanteHome very soon!)…
Finally the planner I got recently just isn’t working for me, so I have ordered the undated version of this one in the Brocante store …
DO…
* Join Danielle LaPorte on her YEAR LONG soul support program, LIGHTER. Because if I know this much, I know that Danielle always over-delivers and that this new program will be worth every single penny…
* Listen to Jess Lively talking to Hibiscus Moon about the science behind the use of crystals because it is utterly fascnating and debunks almost everything the naysayers like to mutter about these precious stones..
* And watch, if you haven’t seen it already, NoseDive from the Black Mirror Seriesa pastel pink vision of Dystopia that has had me re-thinking my obsession with social media for days now…

READ…

* Order In Good Company – the new magazine from Grace Bonney of Design Sponge fame – created to support women in business and just right for when you get to feeling lonely and unsupported at your kitchen-table desk…
* And lose a lovely little hour wandering through the archives at The Villa On Mount Pleasant because its just so beautiful.

PUTTER…

* This week start an “Our Holiday board” on Pinterest and fill it full of all the information and touristy-to-do’s you can find about your chosen destination. Et voila! A portable guide to everything you need to know while you are away (as long as there’s Wi-Fi of course!).
* And re-purpose old perfume bottles into darling little bud vases on your dressing table…

TREAT YOURSELF…

* By making that time of the month just a little bit more bearable with the arrival of a monthly Pink Parcel

* And practising forgiveness and compassion with this short meditation whenever you feel wronged…

ENJOY…

* Using leftover lentils to cook up these surprisingly delicious Lentil Faux-Lafels……
* And delight the kids with a Jammie Dodger cheesecakeSwoon

FINALLY A FEW QUICK LINKS…

* A quick reminder that you can now try out the Salon for just $5.00 for your first month (you know in case you missed it at the top of the Digest!)

* Hop over to my Patreon Page where you can help me write my next book (this month I have started issuing the Puttery Treat Months: lovely lists of 31 puttery treats for a life less ordinary!).
* And follow me on Instagram where you can can keep up with all my latest trolley treats and reading matter…
