“When Miss Briggs was tired she was cross and you could tell, usually, that when she was cross she was tired- she knew it , and her neighbours knew it.
On the cross-tired days she got sick of “humans”. Then she locked the front door and pulled down the blinds and lighted the gas ring and – had a cup of
She took her best crochet-edged linen
Then Miss Briggs flung “humans” and cares behind her, picked some
She ate buttered bread and lots of jam, and drank a freshly soaked strong cup of
And when the lines about her forehead were smoothing out and her feet were rested, and the corners of her mouth were lifting a little, she knew the cure was working. So did Snip. And he stretched himself, put his paws on her lap, said “With your consent?” and jumped up. With a flop he curled around and put his nose on her knee. Miss Briggs crocheted and nodded and nodded and crocheted, and Snip sighed contentedly between ten-minute naps.
By the end of a couple of hours they were rest cured and ready to face their worlds again.”

Absolutely DELIGHTFUL! Miss Briggs is truly a 'kindred spirit'.
She surely sounds like your kindred spirit: what a scrumptiously pretty tearoom you have Audrey! How I wish there wasn't an ocean between us so I could pop in!
Hello Alison,
Thank you for your kind words. Our tearoom is “dream come true” directly from the hand of God! Only He could put together something this wonderful, down to the finest detail. May he bless your business “beyond what you could ask or think”, too!
I recently purchased your “Seasonal Scrub” which I’ll attempt to apply to this big, old house! Blessings, Audrey
Now I'm positive. I should take tea today. The sooner the better.
Isn't it lovely when life sends you affirmation Debbi?x
I try to take the same said cure weekly. Does wonders, Dahlings.
Yes but Linda, is the dog essential?? I haven't got one (despite the way Finn begs) and I'm worrying that wet little nose on my knee is a dealbreaker…
we do the same here, only out in the back pasture with a slightly neurotic cat who brings us voles. the tea is very good, however.
Dear Alison,
This is absolutely lovely and wise and I am grateful you shared it. I am just returned from a few days cure (tho' it was with my husband and wine and a river beach!) that did a world of good for us….this reminds me to do it in smaller ways at home. I think the key is finding the right ingredients for each of us…which might or might not mean a dog…perhaps just the birds in the trees?
Alison, Your blog really lifts my spirits…Thank you.
