  1. That's what was missing at 6 a.m. this morning! Madelines, not the three year old. I have my hands full with the 33 year old I clean up after. Now, to try to get rid of this mental picture I have of a sumo wrestler in frilly coffee coloured polka dot knickers…..

  2. "Super duper sumos, they've got guts! Super duper sumos, they've got butts!"
Ahh yes, I know the feeling well. My three year says to me "mummy, I love your big round tummy"…"thank you my darling I grow it just for you!" is my general reply. A certain "avoir du poid" stops the wrinkles appearing don't ya know!

  3. Oh they say the darndest things! Lucy asked me why I have " tracks on your forehead mummy?" worry lines more like! LOL!

  4. It won't get better. My 16-year-old tells his friends to "hug the gnome" when they come over. Sadly, he means me. But I do get hugged a lot!

  5. Finley always makes me laugh with his little pronouncements. I love it that you took his "compliment" in stride and celebrated the day. The madeleines sound so yummy.

  6. Alison, I really, really enjoy everything you write.
I was visualising you going into the bathroom with your brown polka dot panties and your son hugging one of your legs…………. priceless!!!!
Your son is an angel and what more can you want? You should be proud that you are obviously doing something right when the result is this intelligent being
who gives us so much joy every time he opens his lttle mouth.

  7. I remember once that I thought I was just getting back into shape after yet another baby and was dressing up to go out to dinner with my husband. My 3 year old daughter was so excited to see me all dressed up that she came running to me with open arms saying, "Mom you look enormous!" It was too funny.

  8. You TRULY made these that early in the morn? Wow! These little delights just might get me up that early…I love the way you tell your stories!

  9. I'm sure the darling compliment was given with the kindest intentions! Those cookies have me twixt on baking some of my own… pass that recipe on would you!

  10. Er… Alison… you did put some other clothes on over the polka-dot knicks, didn't you?!
I've got visions now of a beaming happy Alison spending the whole day in just her knickers…!
We love you, and that counts for a bit. Finlay loves you and that counts for a heck of a lot!
