Private Correspondence is a month-long WhatsApp conversation with me, Alison, founder of BrocanteHome.

We’ll talk it through.

You can send messages, photographs, links, voice notes, half-formed thoughts and the occasional small domestic crisis. I’ll reply with questions, ideas, practical suggestions, perspective, encouragement and, where necessary, a gentle prod in the ribs.

There’s no rigid programme to follow and no requirement to arrive with a perfectly articulated goal.

This is simply a private place to think aloud with someone who has spent more than twenty years writing about home, creativity, women’s lives and the peculiar business of making a life feel like your own.

Your month starts when we begin chatting.

You’re welcome to message as thoughts occur, and I’ll reply during my usual working days. This isn’t instant-response messaging, therapy or emergency support. It is thoughtful, ongoing correspondence with plenty of room for wandering, wondering and changing your mind.

At the beginning I’ll ask you four simple questions:

What’s bothering you?
What are you longing for?
What are you avoiding?
What would you like to feel different a month from now?

And then we’ll see where the conversation takes us.
